Dress for Success - Uniforms

Dress for Success Logo

Whether you are in elementary school or in high school and wear a uniform, we have a dress code policy that reflects our commitment to promoting and maintaining a safe, positive and respectful learning environment. Take a look at the Appropriate Dress Code (.pdf format) policy statement and procedures that are in place at each of our schools.

Uniforms

In addition to a standard dress code for every school, students in each of our nine high schools wear a uniform. Each school has its own guidelines in place (see below) that determine what the uniform looks like and how it is worn. Having uniforms creates a distinctive look for the school and it also makes it easier to identify students on school grounds, which is great for safety reasons. Another advantage of school uniforms is that in the long-term the annual average cost for school clothes is considerably less for students.

Uniforms for most of our schools can be purchased at McCarthy's, which has designed, manufactured and supplied school uniforms and accessories to schools across Canada for close to fifty years. Uniforms can be ordered on-line by visiting the McCarthy web site or by visiting one of their many store locations. Check with your school directly to find out more about your specific uniform policy. Uniforms at Jean Vanier will be provided by Halpern's, please check their web site for more information.
